California Officer's Gun Stolen by Half-Naked Suspect in Dramatic Bodycam Footage Before Being Shot Dead by Another Officer

A California police officer fatally shot a 26-year-old man after an intense confrontation that unfolded near a local middle school earlier this year, newly released audio and video footage revealed Wednesday. The incident occurred on January 24 in Fountain Valley and began with a 911 call from a concerned community member regarding a “disturbed” individual attempting to open a woman's car door.

According to Lieutenant Mike Parsons of the Fountain Valley Police Department, the call came in around 11 a.m. A caller reported that a shirtless man—later identified as Osean McClintock—was pulling aggressively at the door handle of a parked car as its presumably frightened driver tried to leave the area. The suspect was described as possibly White or Hispanic, with a shaved head and wearing jeans.

Police response was swift. Officers arrived on the scene to investigate a "suspicious subject." When a male officer located McClintock and asked him to take a seat, McClintock refused and began chanting religious phrases: "In Jesus name I pray. Forever. Amen." He then fled toward the parking lot of the police department itself.

The situation escalated when McClintock approached a female officer sitting in her patrol car. As she drew her weapon in response to his approach, a struggle broke out inside the vehicle. Bodycam and audio recordings show a chaotic scene, with the officers shouting and McClintock repeatedly yelling religious proclamations. During the scuffle, McClintock managed to wrestle the firearm away from the officer—a moment captured on both audio and video.

The altercation reached a critical point as the female officer, now unarmed, shouted, "He has my gun! He has my gun!" Despite her pleas for him not to shoot, McClintock pointed the weapon at her before she managed to take cover behind a nearby vehicle. The male officer, hearing the commotion, rushed to her aid and ordered McClintock to drop the gun.

  • McClintock refused to comply.
  • He entered the female officer’s patrol car, still holding the weapon.
  • The male officer fired several shots at McClintock in response.

Emergency medical personnel arrived quickly and attempted lifesaving measures. However, McClintock was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not disclosed how many times he was struck by gunfire.

Fountain Valley Police Chief Rod Cox stated that the investigation is ongoing and, due to protocol surrounding officer-involved shootings, may take up to a year to conclude. Both officers involved remain unnamed as is standard during active investigations.

The release of the audio and bodycam footage comes amid ongoing scrutiny of police practices and procedures during high-stress encounters, especially those involving mental health crises or individuals exhibiting erratic behavior.
